Medicaid-funded personal care services and home healthcare services will need to be fully compliant with their state’s electronic visit verification systems by January 1, 2023. Electronic visit verification refers to the use of electronic systems to verify the utilization and delivery of services provided.

Congress passed the Cures Act on December 13, 2016. Under the Act, providers of Medicaid-funded personal care services and home healthcare services are required to have an electronic visit verification system.
